Access Statement

Carmarthenshire County Museum is housed in the former palace of the Bishop of St. David's. It is a listed building, but sensitive adaptations have been made to allow reasonable access within the building.

Free Admission

How to find us

  • 2 miles east of Carmarthen Town centre, in the village of Abergwili
  • Bus Services 280/281 (Carmarthen Bus Station – Llandovery) All buses on these services are usually easy access vehicles. Bus Services 277, 279, 282 and 283 (also from Carmarthen Bus Station) are not easy access.
  • The Carmarthen to Abergwili bus stop is at the Black Ox public house on Abergwili High Street. From here it is a short walk to the Museum grounds – on the other side of the road - and some 200 metres to the front door. However, the driver may be prepared to stop closer to the grounds if you ask.
  • The Abergwili to Carmarthen stop is immediately outside the Museum grounds.
